Biography
Vern Blanchette is a graduate of the University of Alabama (B.S. – Physics/Mathematics) and the University of Texas at Austin (M.Ed.). He has taught in the public schools (9th grade physical science), at a community college, and for General Electric Company in the commercial nuclear power industry. He recently retired as an engineer with URS Corporation at the Kennedy Space Center. Blanchette has been involved in shooting as a hobby and self-defense since age 15, and is a longstanding member of the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Blanchette, married with six children, has been writing for over fifty years, and is an alumnus of the Christian Writer’s Conference at Lake Yale, Florida. His published works include a romance novel, a two-volume handbook on the topic of how to survive a terrorist’s nuclear attack on a large city, a science fiction book called Bubble, a two part SciFi book called Kneldt's Fantasy and others. Safe Schools Now, Arming America’s Teachers, was begun October 6, 2011 and published by Dog Ear Publishing in 2013. Dog Ear is no longer in business. The author has plans to update and republish "Safe Schools Now" on the Amazon platform in the near future.
